Now, our team members take detailed pictures of your smile with a small sensor and transfer them immediately to our computer system. We can magnify the image, rotate it, and even add color-coding so you fully understand what you’re looking at and which concerns you’re facing. Radiation exposure is reduced by up to 90% as well.
EMERGENCY DENTISTRY

Dr Richardson will do everything in his power to see you as soon as possible and provide relief. We can also give guidance over the phone, including helpful first-aid tips and recommendations for whether or not to proceed to the emergency room. Dr Richardson is available for after-hours emergency calls as well.

At Dr Richardson Dental we offer digital impression — that means no more goo for patient impressions! If you have ever had an impression made of your teeth, you may know what we are referring to. The conventional impression process is especially uncomfortable for patients who have a gag reflex.
SAFE AMALGAM REMOVAL
Dr Richardson is SMART Certified for the safe removal of mercury fillings following the instructions from the International Academy of Oral Medicine and Toxicology for amalgam (mercury restoration) removals. Amalgam vapours can be toxic to the body, therefore proper equipment and protocols that protect the patients, staff, and the environment are in set in place.
Dr Mark Richardson Dental uses an air purifier to capture mercury vapours and drill aerosols before they have a chance to spread, and also removes dangerous bacteria and particles from the air. We administer medical-grade oxygen so that mercury intake is minimized while you inhale through the nose.
We use a special suction device to capture all mercury particles and a nitrile dam to ensure any leaking mercury will not enter the mouth. We irrigate the tooth during the removal process. We cut the mercury fillings in sections to minimize drilling and vapor creation and use an amalgam separator to dispose of the amalgam safely. We dispose of the gloves, gowns, and materials used in the process.
BIOCOMPATIBLE DENTISTRY
The team at Dr Mark Richardson Dental are ardent supporters of biocompatible dentistry. We strive to use materials that are free of harmful toxic chemicals that are often found in many commonly used dental materials. The composite and bonding agents chosen by our office have the best rating for safety and exclusion of chemicals known to trigger an immune response.
Dr Richardson believes that there are more biologically friendly alternatives that allow us to bypass mercury fillings altogether. After all, why risk introducing mercury into our bodies when we know it has a detrimental effect on the environment?
Dr Mark Richardson Dental presents many biocompatible dentistry options that are favorable over mercury amalgam, both in terms of composition and performance. The first — composite resin — is a completely metal-free and tooth-colored filling that works perfectly for less intensive dental work, such as cavities. It bonds directly and quickly to the tooth, which allows for a quicker and less invasive application than the old amalgam fillings.
Secondly, Dr Richardson uses porcelain ceramic restorations for teeth with more extensive damage. Both porcelain and composite resin have been found to be longer lasting than amalgam fillings. They also don’t carry the negative consequences of mercury fillings, including toxicity and potentially tooth-cracking properties over time.
